Our last inspector awarded us a fantastic 78% Merit Score saying;

"This fine old Inn has played a central role in the town for centuries. Traditional features combine successfully with contemporary comforts; bedrooms are located in the main building and in an annexe. Guests can choose from an imaginative menu in either the stylish restaurant or the conservatory."

The Good Hotel Guide, first published 32 years ago, is totally independent. It receives no payments, hospitality or advertising from Hotels selected for an entry in the printed Guide. The Guide specialises in small owner-managed Hotels and B&Bs in England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and the Channel Islands. It includes budget B&Bs, good-value Hotels as well as luxurious country houses.

"Our room was beautifully appointed and clean. Little touches like the generous carafe of sherry and the selection of expensive toiletries made the visit seem special.' A guest this year at this centuries-old coaching inn felt 'well looked after'. With its honey-coloured Georgian facade, it stands on the main street of this attractive market town."
